Women's Tennis Suffers a 9-0 Loss to Visiting Nichols College

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team fell to visiting Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Nichols College, 9-0, at the Big Nine Courts on Friday afternoon.  With the win the Bison improve to 6-1 on the season and 4-1 in the CCC, while the Colonels fall to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the CCC.

The Bison swept all six singles matches and all three double matches.

Nichols No. 1 singles player, Lauren Candia (Anaheim, Calif.) won her match 6-0, 6-0 against Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.).  The Bison's No. 2 singles player Cristina Szepanski (Windsor Locks, Conn.) claimed her tilt verse Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) , 6-3, 6-2. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine) was bested by Ashley Dallaire (East Bridgewater, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0. Daniela Saldarriaga (Medellin, Columbia) earned the No. 4 singles win for Nichols, 6-1, 6-1 by defeating Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.). The Bison's Emma Carey (Venice, Fla.) earned 6-0, 6-0 wins over Katelyn Harrington (Westport, Mass.) and at the No. 6 position Tiffany Romano (South Windsor, Conn.) defeated Curry's Alex Moschetto (Hampton Falls, N.H.), 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, the No.1 pair Candia and Dallaire earned an 8-3 victory over the Colonels Prete and Love.  The No. 2 duo of Szepanski and Saldarriage bested Curry's Harrington and Moschetto, 8-0.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Bison's doubles partners, Michelle Keklik (Stratford, Conn.) and Jade Linscott (Montague, Mass.) outlasted Erickson and Gabriella Tedeschi (East Greenwich, R.I.), 8-3.

The Colonels return to action on Tuesday, September 22 at 3:00 when they travel to CCC opponent Salve Regina.  The Bison return to action also on Tuesday, September 22, when they host CCC opponent Endicott in a 4:00 match.
