Women's Tennis Blanks Conference Rival Anna Maria, 9-0
MILTON, Mass. - Curry College rolled past Anna Maria College by the score of 9-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon in Milton.
The host Colonels lost just one game over three doubles matches. Curry’s Emily Mongello and Devin Curley defeated the Amcats’ Victoria Minotti and Emily Williamson, 8-0, at #1; Megan Mulrooney and Kate Johnson knocked off Allison McCarthy and Kayla Cummings, 8-1, at #2; and Kathleen Rush and Elizabeth Zarkades took care of Brittany Quattrocci and Kelly Blake, 8-0, at #3.
Curry was dominant in singles as well, earning wins from Mulrooney at #1, Mongello at #2, Lauren Maloney at #3, Rush at #4, Johnson at #5 and Curley at #6. Anna Maria’s Williamson lost 6-3, 6-3 to Mongello, while Minotti took three games from Mulrooney in their first set, before falling 6-3, 6-0. McCarthy captured three total games from Rush over two sets.
The win improves Curry’s record to 7-5 overall and 5-4 in conference play. The loss drops Anna Maria to 1-9 overall and 1-8 in TCCC action. Curry returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts TCCC foe Roger Williams at 3:30 p.m. The Amcats host Johnson State in a 1:00 p.m. non-conference match on Sunday.
