Franklin, Mass. — The Curry College women's soccer team continued its strong start to the 2025 season with a commanding 6–1 win over Dean College on Tuesday afternoon. With the victory, the Colonels improve to 2–0-0, while Dean drops to 0–2-0.
Despite falling behind early, Curry responded with poise and offensive firepower. Dean opened the scoring in the 21st minute on an unassisted strike from Kacie Consolini, but Curry quickly regrouped and took control. Sophomore Mia Schena equalized in the 39th minute off a feed from Nicole Hudson, who followed up with a goal of her own just before halftime to give Curry a 2–1 lead at the break.
The second half belonged entirely to the Colonels. Jovi Goldstein extended the lead to 3–1 in the 54th minute, assisted by Schena. Freshman Samantha DeRuosi made it 4–1 in the 62nd, finishing a cross from Sarah Crusse. Crusse then added a goal of her own in the 74th minute, assisted by both Catia Fernandes and Jadyn Sotomayor. Sotomayor capped off the scoring in the 89th minute with an unassisted goal to seal the 6–1 win.
Curry's offense was relentless, outshooting Dean 29–6 and putting 21 shots on goal. Schena, Hudson, Crusse, DeRuosi, Goldstein, and Sotomayor each tallied goals, while five players recorded assists. In goal, Lexi Smardon earned the win with two saves in over 70 minutes of action.
The Colonels will look to carry their momentum into their next match as they continue non-conference play with a trip to UMass Dartmouth on Friday afternoon.
