Freshman Nicole Hudson Tallies Four Goals; Ties School Record in Victory Over Mass. Maritime
A first-half hat trick by freshman midfielder Nicole Hudson lifted the Colonels en route to an opening day victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy 6-0
Milton, MA - Curry College women's soccer opened the 2025 season in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 6–0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy at Walter M. Katz Field. The Colonels controlled play from start to finish, outshooting the Buccaneers 39–1 and generating continued offensive opportunities.
Freshman midfielder Nicole Hudson led the way with a spectacular four-goal performance, netting a first-half hat trick before adding a fourth tally early in the second half. Hudson opened the scoring just six minutes into the match with an unassisted strike, setting the tone for Curry's attack. She doubled the lead in the 26th minute, finishing a pass from Mia Schena, and completed her hat trick just before halftime off an assist from Jovi Goldstein.
After the break, Hudson would pick up her fourth goal of the afternoon, scoring unassisted in the 51st minute to put Curry ahead 4–0. With her fourth goal, she cemented herself in the Curry record books, tying the reord for single game goals scored (4). The Colonels would then put finishing touches on the game with Mya Dorsey adding her first goal of the season in the 55th minute off an assist from Sage Carmody. Schena capped the scoring in the 62nd minute, finishing a setup from Samantha DeRuosi to make it 6–0.
Curry's midfield and forward lines peppered Mass. Maritime goalkeeper Brady Deschamps with 25 shots on goal. Deschamps stood tall despite the lopsided scoreline, finishing with 19 saves to keep the Buccaneers within reach as long as possible.
Defensively, Curry's back line was rarely tested, with the Buccaneers managing just one shot attempt all game—a late strike in the 90th minute that sailed high. Goalkeepers Lexi Smardon and Sarah Stairs split time in net for the Colonels, but neither was forced to make a save as the team secured its first shutout of the year.
With the win, Curry improves to 1-0 on the season while the Buccaneers fall to 0-1. The Colonels look to carry the momentum on the road to Dean College for a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon.
