Milton, MA - The Curry Women's Soccer team picked up their first CNE win of the season, beating Nichols 2-0 on Saturday, moving to 5-4-2 on the season, and 1-1-1 in CNE play. The Bison are now 3-6-2 and 0-3-0.
Things stayed tied at zero until late in the first half, when the Colonels would strike in the 41st minute. Sarina Michaud took a shot from far out, and it went off the cross bar. But Julia Croft was right there to head the ball in off the bounce, putting the Colonels up 1-0 at the half.
The Colonels would then double their lead in the 63rd minute, this time on a Catia Fernandes strike. Fernandes took a shot from the edge of the box, and it squeaked through a mass of bodies, just barely getting over the goal line. That gave the Colonels some cushion, and they would coast to a 2-0 win.
The Colonels outshot the Bison 8-5 in both halves, giving them a 16-10 advantage in the game. They also doubled up the Bison in corner kicks, 4-2.
Curry goalie Hannah Correa completed the shutout, her third of the season, by making five saves.
Up Next - The Colonels will have their final non-conference game of the season when they host Bridgewater State on Wednesday at 7pm.
