Providence, R.I. - Curry College was narrowly defeated by Rhode Island College 2-1 in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 2-1-1 on the season.

Trailing by two in the 54th minute of play, a foul in the box gave Mia Schena (Nahant, Mass.) a chance for a penalty kick. Schena's shot found its way past the goalkeeper to score the only Colonel goal of the game.

Lexi Smardon (Scotland, Conn.) and Hannah Correa (Carver, Mass.) split time in goal for the Colonels, combining for two total saves.

Curry College returns to action on Saturday, September 14th, with a home match against Fitchburg, beginning at 4 p.m.
