Women's Soccer Draws With UMass Boston

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College played to a 1-1 draw in a non-conference collegiate women's soccer match against UMass Boston Tuesday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field.

Senior defender Avery Ewell (Marshfield, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 61st minute of play to put Curry on the board and tie the game at 1-1. She was assisted on the play by Madison Frye (Abington, Mass.).

The Colonels outshot the Beacons by a margin of 9-5 with three shots being on target. The home team also had eight corner kicks compared to only three for the visitors.

Lexi Smardon (Scotland, Conn.) played the entire game in net for Curry, finishing with two saves in the draw.

Kaylee Haynes scored UMass Boston's only goal in the 22nd minute of play. She was assisted by Georgia Bonney.

Curry College (1-3-3) returns to action on Saturday (9/23) to host Roger Williams in a Commonwealth Coast Conference soccer game at Walter M. Katz Field beginning at 4 p.m.
