Colonels Tie Golden Bears in Conference Opener on Katz Field

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's soccer team opened their Commonwealth Coast Conference action with a tie Saturday afternoon against the Western New England Golden Bears.

With the tie, Curry continues with an overall record of 4-2-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in the CCC.

After the 36 scoreless minutes of play on Walter M. Katz Field, Curry College senior defender Erica Blanch (Danvers, Mass.) found the back of the net on a cracking bar-down strike from 30 yards to put the Colonels up 1-0 heading into the half.

Curry continued to hold back the visiting Golden Bears deep into the second half of regulation until WNE's Allison Bruehwiler found the back of the net with under five minutes remaining in the contest.

The conference sides would not find another opportunity to score through regulation, closing the CCC matchup at a 1-1 tie.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Correa (Carver, Mass.) marked two saves in the loss at home.

The Colonels return to the field Thursday (9/22) as they host the Worcester State University Lancers at 7 PM on Katz Field.
