BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. - The Curry College women's soccer team won its second consecutive contest on Wednesday evening, defeating Massachusetts Maritime Academy 2-0 in non-conference action at Clean Harbors Stadium.
With the victory, Curry moves back to .500 with a record of 6-6-0.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes, despite the Colonels boasting a hefty 16-0 shot advantage.
Early in the second half, Curry freshman Abby Carew (Whitman, Mass.) finally broke the ice by depositing her first collegiate goal off a feed from sophomore Madison Frye (Abington, Mass.).
In the 63rd minute, Frye added some insurance for the Colonels, unleashing a wicked shot from beyond the top of the box into the top corner of the cage for an unassisted tally.
Curry finished the contest with a shot advantage of 40-2. Curry freshman goalkeeper Stella Schofield (Marshfield, Mass.) turned away both shots she faced for her first career complete game shutout.
The Colonels will return to the pitch for a CCC battle with Western New England University on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m.
