MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's soccer team took care of UMass Dartmouth by a final score of 3-0 Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the win, Curry moves above .500 with a record of 3-2-0. UMass Dartmouth drops to 1-2-1.

The Colonels got on the board quickly to open the night, as sophomore Sydney Dewhurst (East Bridgewater, Mass.) headed home her third goal of the season in the ninth minute to put her team ahead 1-0. A long over-the-top cross from junior Jessica Gooch (Dracut, Mass.) found a wide open Dewhurst at the top of the box, and Dewhurst easily guided the ball over the keeper and into goal.

The 1-0 score would hold until halftime, despite the Colonels holding a 10-0 edge in shots

Just 3:15 into the second half, Curry extended its lead to 2-0 when Sydney Resendes (Coventry, R.I.) notched her first collegiate goal. The sophomore stole the ball from a Corsair defender at the top of the 18-yard box before walking in and depositing it into the back of the net.

In the 81st minute, senior Jillian McRoy (Fall River, Mass.) got in on the fun, depositing her first career goal off of a Julia Croft (Severn, Md.) feed to put Curry ahead 3-0, a score which would hold up until the final whistle.

Curry freshman netminder Stella Schofield (Marshfield, Mass.) got credited with the win, playing the game's opening 45 minutes, but was not forced to make a save. In the second half, Hannah Correa (Carver, Mass.) went into the game in relief and made three saves to preserve the shutout.

Curry will be back on the pitch on Saturday to open conference play on the road at Endicott. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
