MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's soccer team recorded a 3-0 shutout victory over Simmons University in non-conference action from Walter M. Katz Field.

With the win, Curry moves to 2-1-0 on the young season, while Simmons continues to seek its first win at 0-3-0.

Curry wasted no time getting on the board in the contest, as senior Samantha Borges (Somerset, Mass.) redirected home a Madison Frye (Abington, Mass.) cross in just the fifth minute to put the host in front 1-0.

The 1-0 score would last into the second half, when the Colonels extended their lead to two. Junior McKenna Reid (Irvine, Calif.) got on the end of a Sydney Resendes (Coventry, R.I.) cross to put in Curry's second goal of the game in the 57th minute.

Moments later, in the 64th minute, Curry stretched its lead to 3-0 on a Simmons own goal. A cross from the right wing off the foot of Colonel freshman Abby Carew (Whitman, Mass.) deflected off a Shark defender and into the back of the net.

Curry freshman goalkeeper Stella Schofield (Marshfield, Mass.) earned her first collegiate shutout in the win, making three saves. The loss went to Simmons' Marita Nothacker, despite four saves.

Next up for the Colonels, they'll travel to Clark University for an 11 a.m. non-conference matchup with Clark University on Saturday morning. Simmons wil be in action the same day, opening conference play against Norwich at 1 p.m.
