Women's Soccer Blanked in Non-Conference Finale

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team fell to visiting UMass Boston by a 2-0 final on Saturday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field.

Freshmen Isa Andrade (Cambridge, Mass.) and Kelly McNeil (Marshfield, Mass.) each found the back of the net for the Beacons, who improved to 12-2-0 overall and picked up their ninth straight win. Freshman Maria Spylios (Leominster, Mass.) made three saves in goal to record her seventh shutout of the season.

UMass Boston struck for the first goal in the 50th minute when sophomore Grace Oliver (Rockland, Mass.) set up Andrade for a shot attempt. Oliver crossed the ball in front of the Curry goal and Andrade got a foot on it to put it past Colonels' freshman keeper Oliver Hutchinson (Scituate, Mass.) and tallied her third goal of the season.

The Beacons took the 1-0 advantage into the halftime intermission and added the contests' final marker in the 87th minute. Oliver took a shot on goal, which pulled Hutchinson out of the net. Oliver was able to regather possession and connect with McNeil on a pass. McNeil shot on an empty net to make it a two-goal match.

UMass Boston held a 26-8 advantage in total shots on the day. Hutchinson recorded a season-high 13 saves for the Colonels.

Curry (6-8-0 overall) travels to the University of New England for its next match on Tuesday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m. UMass Boston returns to action at home against the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m.
