Women's Soccer Blanked at Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost a non-conference tilt to Union College (N.Y.) by a 3-0 final on Saturday afternoon at College Park Field.

The Dutchmen (1-1-0 overall) scored two goals in the first half and added one in the second to tally its first win on the season. Union got its goals from freshman Emma Maley (Lansdale, Pa.), sophomore Alexa Cornacchia (Hamden, Conn.), and freshman Ryan Conway (East Islip, N.Y.) while junior goalkeeper Alison Sorkenn (River Edge, N.J.) turned away two shots to record the clean sheet.

Curry's freshman keeper Oliver Hutchinson (Scituate, Mass.) had a busy day, finishing with 12 saves against 15 total shots.

Maley put the Dutchmen on the scoreboard in the 41st minute off assists from sophomore Maggie Wiechert (Williamsville, N.Y.) and junior Amanda Ashmen (Voorhees, N.J.). The home team tacked on another just over two minutes later when Cornacchia put a shot past Hutchinson. The helpers on the goal went to junior Georgia Mraz (South Salem, N.Y.) and Wiechert.

Conway made it 3-0 in the 60th minute. The assists were awarded to sophomores Fiona Zimmerman (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and Bella Dworkin (Manchester, Vt.).

Curry (0-2-0 overall) wraps up a season-long three game road trip on Thursday, September 5 at Eastern Nazarene College at 7:00 p.m. Union remains at home to host Plattsburgh State on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
