Women's Soccer Claims #5 Seed in CCC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Roger Williams picked up a 3-0 victory over Salve Regina on the final day of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play to close out an undefeated conference slate at 7-0-2. The win gives the Hawks a share of the 2016 Regular-Season title and the top seed in the upcoming CCC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The Hawks enter the CCC Tournament as the top seed for the third straight year and will look to capture their third consecutive Conference Championship.

Wentworth also earns a share of the CCC Regular-Season title with an identical 7-0-2 record. They land in the Tournament's No. 2 slot based on tiebreakers. The Hawks and Leopards played to a scoreless draw in their only meeting during the regular season offering no relief in the head-to-head tiebreaker. The next step was performance against other conference teams in rank order. Both teams defeated No. 3-seed Endicott, but Roger Williams had a win over No. 4-seed University of New England while Wentworth played the Nor'easters to a draw.

Roger Williams and Wentworth will both host quarterfinal matches on Saturday, Oct. 29. The Hawks will host No. 8-seed Gordon at 11 a.m. and the Leopards will host No. 7-seed Western New England at 3 p.m.

As the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, Endicott and UNE also earn the right host quarterfinal matches on Saturday. The Gulls will host No. 6-seed Salve Regina at 7 p.m. and the Nor'easters will host No. 5-seed Curry at noon.

The winners of the quarterfinal matches will meet in the semifinal round on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The winner of the Roger Williams-Gordon match will play the winner of UNE-Curry and the Wentworth-Western New England winner will play the Endicott-Salve Regina winner.

The two semifinal winners earn a trip to the CCC Women's Soccer Championship match which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 5. The CCC Tournament Champion will receive the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Championship.
