Women's Soccer Knocked Off 5-0 at Endicott in CCC Action

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's soccer team improved to 5-0-1 on the season by defeating visiting Curry College, 5-0, on Saturday night at Hempstead Stadium in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest.

Junior forward Rachel Hanna (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored the first of her two goals on the night off a pass from freshman forward Hannah Pesci (Windham, N.H.) in the 13th minute.

Pesci followed suit in the 17th minute on a cross from sophomore midfielder Mary Verneris (Hamden, Conn.) to give the Gulls a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Pesci and Hanna each scored for the second time with quick strikes in the second half, in the 49th and 50th minutes, respectively.

Junior back Taylor Coopee (Hampden, Mass.) headed in her first goal of the season in the 81st minute to round out the scoring for the Gulls.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

Junior goalkeeper Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) made two saves to improve to 5-0-0 on the season while recording her eighth career shutout, before giving way to junior Shelby Elwell (Litchfield, Conn.) in 61st minute.

Pesci tallied two goals and one assist in a single match for the first time in her career, bringing her season to three goals and two assists.

Hanna leads the team with five goals, as she tied her season-high with a pair of strikes tonight.

Verneris and freshman Samantha Lello (Shelton, Conn.) each picked up her first career assist, while freshman back Larissa Cade (Middlefield, Conn.) added her first two career helpers.

FOR THE COLONELS

Senior goalkeeper Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) fell to 3-4-1 on the season as she made six saves before giving way to freshman Kristen Buzzotta (Lynnfield, Mass.) in the 69th minute.
