Women's Soccer Falls to CCC Foe Gordon College, 1-0

WENHAM, Mass.—Freshman Kiersten Klose (Concord, N.H.) scored her second career goal in the 36th minute and Gordon was able to hold off a Curry rally to secure a 1-0 in front of the Homecoming crowd.

Gordon controlled the pace of the first half by outshooting the Colonels 14-3 in the frame. Junior goalkeeper Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) held steady for the Colonels with six saves over the opening 25 minutes to keep Gordon out of the net.

The Scots finally broke through Stott's defense late in the second half off of a deflection. Chandler Stier (Redlands, Calif.) launched a shot that hit the crossbar and pinged back into the fray. Klose cleaned up the misdirect for the go ahead score.

Curry put plenty of pressure on the Gordon defense over the final 20 minutes and outshot the Scots 7-6 in the final frame. The Colonels' best opportunity of the day came in the 75th minute as Abigail Ford (Halifax, Mass.) looked to take advantage of McKenzie Dion (No. Grafton, Mass.) coming off her post. Ford had a clean look from the 18-yard line, but Gordon defender Kaelyn Silveira (Bristol, R.I.) got a head on the line drive to push it just over the crossbar.

Gordon held a 21-9 advantage in shots for the afternoon and 13-6 in attempts on frame. Curry earned five corners to Gordon's four, with many of them coming during the waning minutes of the second half.

Stott had a great day in goal for the Colonels despite the loss, making 12 saves. Dion was forced into making five saves, including a couple of close calls in high attempts in the second.

Curry loses just its second game of the year and falls to 9-2 entering an away match with Maine Maritime on Wednesday. Gordon (3-4-2) battles Salem State on Thursday under the lights on the Vikings' campus.  (Story recap courtesy of Gordon Sports Information)
