Women's Soccer Posts a 4-0 Shutout at Newbury College

BOSTON, Mass. – The Newbury College women's soccer fell to Curry College, 4-0, Tuesday evening. Junior forward Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) recorded three points with a goal and an assist on the evening.

Curry wasted very little time jumping on the scoreboard early in the opening minutes. Lima found the back of the net for the first goal of the game in the eighth minute to give the Colonels the 1-0 advantage.

Five minutes later, she connected with sophomore forward Korinna Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) to take the two goal advantage. The Colonels scored once again two minutes before the end of the first half, to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

When the teams return to the pitch at the start of the second period, the Nighthawks continued to battle. Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Fox (Orono, Maine) recorded seven saves to finish with 10 on the night.

Newbury falls to 3-5 on the season while Curry improves to 9-1 on the year. The Nighthawks return to the pitch on Saturday October 3rd when they host Southern Vermont College at 12 p.m. The Colonels will also be in action on Saturday when they travel to the North Shore to face Gordon College at noon.  (Game Recap Courtesy of Newbury Sports Information)
