Women's Soccer Absorbs First Loss of the Season Falling to CCC Foe University of New England, 4-0

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior Jessica Meader (Scarborough, Maine) and sophomore Edie Pallozzi (Windham, Maine) each scored a pair of goals to power the University of New England women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Curry College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match played Saturday (Sept. 19) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

The UNE win knocked the Colonels from the ranks of the unbeaten while improving the Nor'easters' all-time mark versus Curry to 15-4-2. UNE moves to 4-2 on the season and is 2-0 in conference play. Curry stands at 6-1 overall, 1-1 in CCC action.

Pallozzi gave Big Blue the margin for victory in the early going, roofing a shot from just inside the box off a feed from Meader in the sixth minute.

Meader doubled the Nor'easters' advantage 11 minutes later, collecting a flick from senior Jackie Dickerson (Windham, N.H.) and directing a low shot inside the left post.

Meader struck again in the early stages of the second half when senior Kayla Hamel (Lewiston, Maine) spotted her making a beautiful run down the right side. Meader found the back of the net for her second marker of the day and first two-goal performance of her career.

Pallozzi capped the scoring in the 83rd minute, collecting a loose ball and ripping a left-footed shot into the net to record her the first multi-goal game of her career.

Junior netminder Brielle Robinson (Monson, Mass.) had five saves to register her second shutout of the season and ninth of her career.

Junior Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) had four saves and classmate Christina Chiofalo (Smithtown, N.Y.) one for Curry, which plays a road match at Fitchburg State on Tuesday.

The Nor'easters will head to Lewiston that same day to face Bates College at 4:30 p.m.  (Game Recap Courtesy Of University of New England Sports Information)
