Stott Posts Shutout as Women's Soccer Upsets Mount Ida, 2-0

NEWTON, Mass. – Mount Ida College was held scoreless in their 2015 home opener and saw their record even at 1-1 after a 2-0 loss at the hands of visiting Curry College in non-conference women's soccer action on Thursday evening at Alumni Field.

The teams played a scoreless first 45 minutes, but Mount Ida was outshot 11-1 in the second half and gave up tallies at the beginning and end of the frame.

Sophomore Korinna Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) notched the eventual game-winner just under five minutes into the second half when she took a feed from Kendall Fox (Dartmouth, Mass.), who played her beautifully into open space.

An insurance goal came seven minutes from full time, a missile from the right side off the foot of junior Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.).

The goals were the second of the season for both Lima and Tsonis.

Mount Ida fired five shots in the game, and their best chance in the first half came off the foot of senior Isabelle Moody (Naugatuck, Conn.), who forced a leaping save out of junior goalie Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.), who pushed it off the crossbar and out of play.

Sophomore Alee Bonola (Windsor, Conn.) was in free against Stott in the second half thanks to a great ball from Heather Pollock (Middleton, Mass.), but the Colonels back-line recovered to snuff out the attack.

Graduate student Nickole Soto (Marlboro, Mass.) played a strong game in net for the Mustangs, making eight saves.

Mount Ida travels to Regis on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 pm non-conference tilt against the Pride.

The Colonels (2-0) end a two-game road trip Sunday with a 1:00 pm game at Lyndon State. (Game Recap Courtesy of Mount Ida Sports Information)
