Women's Soccer Shuts Out Lyndon State, 3-0

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team defeated Lyndon State, 3-0, on Monday evening at the Walter M. Katz Field. With the win the Colonels improve to 9-3 overall while the Hornets fell to 4-9 on the season.

Curry outshot Lyndon 16-3 in the first half, but struggled to find the back of the net to earn a lead heading into break.  Out of the 16 strikes, five landed on goal.  Freshman Julianna Anderson (Manchester, N.H.) made five stops to hold the Colonels scoreless.  Sophomore goaltender Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) made three of the Hornets shots.  Stott earned her sixth shutout on the season in her 45 minutes of play.

The final frame saw the Colonels net three goals.  At the 51:39 minute mark Ashley Bottis (Rutland, Mass.) earned the game-winner after receiving a pass from Stefanie Faucher (No. Grosvenordale, Conn.).  Curry held just a one-goal lead until 84:55 minute mark.  Sophomore Kelly Parker (Branford, Mass.) took a shot that rebounded off of Anderson.  Junior Kelsey O'Brien (Danvers, Mass.) collected the loose ball and one-timed it into the corner.  Just 1:04 later, the Colonels got their ninth win of the year and the 3-0 victory after Amanda Crisfulla (Raynham, Mass.) tallied her first-collegiate goal.  Parker sent Crisfulla a through ball who one-timed it over the head of Anderson.

The Colonels finished with 34 shots and 11 corner kicks.  The Hornets finished with five shots and one corner kick.

Stott made three saves in for the win before giving way to sophomore netminder Christina Chiofalo (Smithtown, N.Y.) who played in goal for her first time this season.  Chiofalo made two stops in 45 minutes.  Anderson made an impressive 14 saves in net for the loss.

Curry returns to action on Wednesday, October 8 when they host Becker College for in a 7:00 p.m. game start.  Lyndon hosts Green Mountain on Saturday, October 11 in a 1:00 p.m. start.
