Lima Nets Two as Women's Soccer Downs Mount Ida, 4-0

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College defeated visiting Mount Ida, 4-0, on Thursday evening.  With the win the Colonels improve to 2-0 overall while the Mustangs fall to 0-2 on the season.

Freshman Kaitlyn Lima (New Bedford, Mass.) led all scorers with five points on two goals and an assist. Two senior Colonels earned their first goals on the season. Meredith Keith (San Jose, Calif.) netted hers off an assist from Lima and Stefanie Faucher (No. Grosvenordale, Conn.) found the back of the net after beating a Mustang defender and one-timing the ball unassisted.  

Lima got her team on the board at the 14:25 minute mark.  Just 42 seconds later Keith extended Curry's lead to go into the break with a 2-0 advantage.  Strong defensive play by the Colonels held the Mustangs scoreless.  Sophomore goaltender Morgan Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) was solid between the pipes making four saves.

Curry outshot Mount Ida 15-7 in the opening half.  Sophomore Rebecca Beaulieu (Weare, N.H.) made six stops.

The Colonels came out resilient in the second frame controlling the majority of the 45 minutes.  The Mustangs were held to just two shots while the Colonels had 15, two resulting in scores.  Faucher tallied Curry's third goal on the night just 15:14 into the half.  Lima's second on the night came with just 13:09 left to play.  Sophomore Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) saw Lima open in front of the net and sent her a pass from the corner of the box.  This would be the final goal of the game for a 4-0 shutout win. 

The Colonels finished with 27 shots and seven corner kicks.  The Mustangs had nine shots and zero corners.

Stott earned the win in net with six saves.  Beaulieu took the loss in net for Mount Ida coming up with eight stops.

Curry returns to action on Saturday, September 6 when they host Green Mountain College at 1:00 p.m.  Mount Ida hosts Regis College on Saturday, September 6 for a 1:00 p.m. game start.
