Women's Soccer Battles Mass. Maritime to a 0-0 Double Overtime Tie

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 17 saves to record her sixth shutout of the season as Massachusetts Maritime and Curry battled to a scoreless double overtime draw in a non-league college women's soccer match played Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Levesque notched her seventh career clean sheet for the host Buccaneers (4-5-3), as she made eight stops in the opening 45 minutes of play and four in the two extra sessions, including a pair of point blank stops in the second overtime.  Senior Brittney McLaughlin (Wilmington, Mass.) had the best chances to give the visiting Colonels (6-7-1) in the final 10 minutes, as she hit the post in the 104th minute and was denied right in front by Levesque with 2:53 remaining.

Senior Hayley Lorge (Beverly, Mass.) was called upon to make one save on the evening in earning her first shutout of the season for Curry, which had 27 of the 29 shots in the contest (17-1 on goal) and took all 10 corners in the match.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Bridgewater State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at Noon, while Curry hosts Endicott in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match on Saturday afternoon in Milton, Mass. that begins at 1:30 p.m. (Game recap courtesy of Mass. Maritime Sports Information)
