Women's Soccer Shut Out 1-0 by Colby-Sawyer

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team lost to the visiting Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Walter M. Katz Field.  With the win the Chargers improve to 7-1 overall.  The Colonels fell to 5-3 on the season.

The teams battled for 83:19 minutes without a score until a deflected ball off a Curry defender ended with the game-winning goal by freshman forward Ali Leizure (Washington, N.H.).  The Colonels were trying to clear the ball out of the 18-yard box with just under seven minutes to play but were unsuccessful and the Chargers capitalized for winning tally.

Colby-Sawyer held a slight advantage in shots with 15 while Curry had 11.  The Colonels also had six corner kicks and the Chargers just one.  Senior goaltender Hayley Lorge (Beverly, Mass.) had an outstanding showing in net making 12 stops on the day.  Solid play between the pipes by Colby-Sawyers' netminder, sophomore Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) held the Colonels scoreless and earned her sixth shutout of the season.

Curry finished with 11 shots, six on net, six corner kicks and six fouls.  Colby-Sawyer ended with 15 shots, 13 on net, one corner kick and four fouls.

The Colonels are next in action when they travel to Fitchburg State on Tuesday, September 24 for a 7:00 p.m. match. Colby-Sawyer travels to Johnson State on Saturday, September 28 for a 3:00 p.m. game.
