Hardy Posts Her Third Shutout of the Season With a 3-0 Victory Over Wentworth

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology 3-0 on Friday in Milton.  With the win the Colonels improve to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Leopards fall to 2-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the TCCC.

The Colonels got on the board first at the 27:11 mark when Alexsa Hesford (Scituate, RI) beat the Wentworth defenders and went one-on-one with the keeper.  Sophomore Jess Gardner (Wilbraham, MA) came out of the net and tried to make a slide tackle, but Hesford dribbled right past her for the score.  The two teams traded shots and solid play from Curry’s sophomore goaltender Samantha Hardy(Pepperell, MA) kept the Leopards scoreless.

Just under six minutes into the second half junior Jaimee Fligg (Barnstable, MA) scored her first goal of the season when she headed the ball off a corner kick from junior Suzanne Jensen (Framingham, MA).  The Leopards offense had some good chances to score but another great half in net from Hardy kept the Colonels in the lead.  The game-winning goal came at the 84:24 mark when freshman Brittney McLaughlin (Wilmington, MA) crossed the ball to freshman Tiana Stanton (Springfield, MA) for the score.
In net for the Leopards was Gardner who made 10 saves in the loss.  In net for Curry was Hardy who posted her third shutout in a row and made seven saves for the win.
