Women's Soccer Captures First Conference Win of the Season Defeating Anna Maria 2-0

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College defeated Anna Maria 2-0 on Saturday in Milton.  With the win the Colonels improve to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Amcats fall to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the TCCC.

The Colonels dominated the entire first half out-shooting the Amcats 26-0.  Anna Maria’s goalkeeper sophomore Tabitha Ruggeri (Sturbridge, MA) turned away all 14 shots that were on net.  The teams finished the half tied at zero.

The Colonels wasted no time getting on the board in the second half when junior Suzanne Jensen(Framingham, MA) took a shot from inside the box that landed in the top-right corner of the net.  Just five minutes later senior Fallon Harrison (Tolland, CT) scored her first goal of the season after she capitalized on a goalie rebound.  The Colonels continued to pressure the Anna Maria defense and goalkeeper but two goals would be all they would get and need to hold on for the win.

Ruggeri made a career-high 29 saves in net for Anna Maria.  In net for Curry was sophomore Samantha Hardy (Pepperell, MA) who played in the first half and saw no shots on net.  Freshman Hayley Lorge(Beverly, MA) played in net in the second half and made one save.

The Colonels will travel to Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday, September 22 for a 4:00 p.m. contest. Anna Maria will host Nichols College on Tuesday, September 21 for a 7:00 p.m. game start.
