Women’s Lacrosse Edged Out by Emerson

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 20-9 by Emerson College in a non-conference collegiate women's lacrosse game Saturday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the loss, the Colonels' overall record falls to 0-2 on the season.

After going down 1-0 to start the game, the Colonels scored three straight to take a 3-1 lead with 1:26 remaining in the first quarter with goals from Natalie Keenan and back-to-backs from Samantha Sprissler.

Keenan scored again with six minutes left in the second quarter on a free position shot to tie the game at 4-4. Three minutes later, Nicole Michael took advantage of a man-up opportunity to score her first goal of the game. Three Emerson goals followed, sending the Colonels to halftime trailing 8-5.

Michael and Keaton scored back-to-back goals early in the third while Sprissler and Sarah Kelly scored in the fourth to close out scoring for the home team.

Alexa Puopolo played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making 13 saves in the loss.

Curry College returns to action on Monday, March 3rd, in a road game against Rhode Island College beginning at 4 p.m.
