Women's Lacrosse Sink Anchorwomen

Milton, MA – The Curry College Women's Lacrosse team defeated the Rhode Island Anchorwomen on Thursday by a final score of 17-2. With the win the Colonels move to 1-2 on the season, giving coach Kelsey Regan her first career win. Rhode Island College moves to 0-3.

The Anchorwomen were playing a woman down the whole game, and the Colonels made them pay early. Ellie Hardman scored a hat trick herself in the first quarter. Also scoring were two players making their season debuts in Ava Doyle and Grayson Goolgasian, both who just wrapped up their women's ice hockey season. RIC would get one back in the closing seconds of the first quarter to make it 5-1. Goolgasian then scored again early in the second, but RIC answered quickly with a goal of their own. But Curry extended their lead back out to five on a Natalie Keenan goal with just under five minutes remaining in the half. They would continue to put the pressure on, as Nicole Michael and Hardman each added another goal, with Michael assisting on Hardman's goal. With just a minute remaining in the half, Goolgasian added a third goal to make it 10-2. She then scored again 30 seconds later, giving the Colonels a 11-2 lead at the break.

The Colonels continued with the pressure in the second half, with Keenan scoring 30 seconds in, followed by another Goolgasian goal a few minutes later making it 13-2. With the clock running due to the 10 goal differential, Keenan would add another goal midway through the third to make it 14-2. Keenan continued to take no prisoners and scored her third goal of the quarter.

The fourth was more of the same, as Goolgasian opened it up with a sixth goal. Hardman would add another of her own making it 17-2, the final score.

Along with her four goals, Keenan also collected 13 draw controls. Goolgasian also got it done on the defensive side of things, causing five turnovers. Zoe Ratcliffe picked up her first career win in net by making five saves.

Up Next - The Colonels will travel to UMass Boston on Saturday for an 11am start.
