Women's Lacrosse Set for First CCC Tournament Appearance Since 2019

MILTON, Mass. - For the first time in four years, the Curry College women's lacrosse team will return to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon, travelling to Western New England University for the Quarterfinals.

How They Got Here
Curry enters with an overall record of 5-10 on the season, and finished CCC play with a mark of 2-6. The Colonels tied for sixth in the league standings, knotted up with Nichols College and Gordon College. The Colonels won the tiebreaker with the highest strength of schedule of the three schools. Western New England finished third in the CCC with a conference record of 6-2 and overall record of 12-5.

Last Meeting
The Golden Bears got the best of the Colonels by a final score of 21-5 when the teams met in Springfield on Tuesday, April 4.

Players to Watch
Curry's leading scorer this season is junior Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.), who has accumulated 44 goals and 11 assists for 55 points. Her 44 goals is tied for seventh in the CCC, while her 55 points is tied for 10th.

Curry sophomore Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) also ranks in the top-10 in the CCC with 41 goals on the season. She has also notched 10 assists for 51 points.

Other Colonels in double figures in goals this season are sophomore Natalie Keenan (Haverhill, Mass.) with 21 and junior Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) with 13. 

Tied with Chevrier with 44 goals on the season is Western New England's leading goal scorer, senior Kylie Buchanan. Buchanan has tallied 44 goals and seven assists for 51 points. 

Western New England's leading scorer is graduate student Samantha Vitka, who is tied for third in the CCC with 65 points on 40 goals and 25 assists.

In net, Curry is expected to start sophomore Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.). The sophomore has accumulated a 5-7 record on the season with a 12.72 goals against average and 34.2 save percentage. 

Junior Faith Graveline has started all but one game in net for the Golden Bears and holds a record of 10-5. She has an 11.41 goals against average and 44.3 save percentage on the season.

"We are so excited for the opportunity to make the playoffs and to compete," said Curry women's lacrosse head coach Sarah Dacey on Friday. "This team has word so hard all season, and they have earned this accomplishment through their perseverance and dedication as a team. We look forward to putting in our best effort tomorrow."
