SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Curry College women's lacrosse team suffered a 21-5 defeat at the hands of Western New England University in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Golden Bear Stadium.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 2-8 overall on the season and 0-4 in CCC competition.

The Colonels opened the scoring in the contest when sophomore Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) found the back of the net 1:41 into the game, putting Curry ahead 1-0. The Golden Bears responded however by scoring the game's next 16 goals to take a stranglehold of the contest.

Goolgasian netted her second goal of the game with 12:20 remaining in the third quarter, ending Western New England's scoring run. Exactly two minutes later, Curry sophomore Casey Conneely (Arlington, Mass.) potted her second goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 16-3.

In the fourth, Goolgasian completed her hat trick on an unassisted tally before freshman Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) found the net for her fourth of the year. The Golden Bears scored the final three goals of the contest, giving the game its final score of 21-5.

Between the pipes, sophomore Vivi Helquist (Proctor, Minn.) made eight saves for the Colonels in the defeat.

Next up for the Colonels, they will host Mitchell College on Friday afternoon for their final non-conference contest of the season, starting at 4 p.m.
