MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Curry College women's lacrosse team was defeated 18-3 by Salve Regina University in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Gaudet Field.
With the defeat, the Colonels dip to 1-7 overall on the season and begin CCC play at 0-1.
The Colonels opened the scoring on the afternoon when senior Maggie Murray (Marstons Mills, Mass.) found the back of the net just 1:32 in. The Seahawks would respond however with the game's next eight goals, a streak that ended on Murray's second of the game late in the second quarter.
Sophomore Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.) tallied Curry's only other goal on the day when she scored with 21 second left in the third quarter.
Freshman Meagan Young (New Market, Md.) made her first career appearance between the pipes for the Colonels, turning aside 12 Seahawk shots in a strong outing. She also scooped up a pair of ground balls in the defeat.
Curry will return home from its five-game road trip for a home CCC contest against Western New England on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. from Walter M. Katz Field.
