Colonels Halted by Warriors
The Curry College Women’s Lacrosse team was defeated by non-conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State University by a final score of 13-4.
MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Lacrosse team was defeated by non-conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State University by a final score of 13-4.
With the loss at home, the Colonels fall to 0-2 on their young season. With the win on the road, Eastern Connecticut kicks off their season 1-0.
The visiting Eastern Connecticut State Warriors tallied 11 goals in the first half. Chloe Miller, Caroline Stent, and Jessica Pyrek-Bennett each marked three goals in the opening half for the Warriors.
The Colonels netted their first goal of the evening in the closing moments of the third quarter. Senior forward Maggie Murray (Marstons Mills, Mass.) put the Colonels on the board with an unassisted goal.
Curry's second goal of the evening came six minutes into the final quarter of play with a calculated shot from Ellie Hardman (Hanover, Mass.) the left of Warriors' goalie Emma Alford, tallying another in the Colonel's scoring column. Another goal for the hosts came with just over two minutes in regulation with a free-position shot from sophomore forward Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.). The final goal of the contest arrived at the 37-second mark, Maggie Murray marking her second of the evening from a free-position shot. The visiting Warriors would take the contest by a final score of 13-4.
Curry's Jess Ginaitt (Warwick, R.I.) recorded 4 saves in the loss on Katz Field.
Curry gets back out on the field Saturday as they host UMass Dartmouth on Katz Field at 11 AM.
