Colonels Dropped by Colby-Sawyer in Season Opener

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Lacrosse Team fell to non-conference opponent Colby-Sawyer by a final score of 17-11 at Katz Field Wednesday evening.

With the loss at home, Curry kicks off their season at 0-1. With the win on the road, the Chargers improve to 1-0.

Colby-Sawyer got on the board first, tallying four goals in the opening five minutes. The Colonels answered back with three goals. Natalie Keenan (Haverhill, Mass.), Maggie Murray (Marstons Mills, Mass.), and Chloe Chevrier (West Suffield, Conn.) all contributed to Curry's total. Five more goals from the Chargers to Curry's three sent the visitors up 9-5 heading into the half.

Curry's Maggie Murray netted a shot with mere seconds remaining in the third quarter, closing the deficit and sending her side into the final period of play down 15-9. Just two more goals from each side would seal the contest at 17-11 in favor of the visiting Chargers

The Colonels were led by Chloe Chevrier who marked four goals in the loss. Sabrina Santaniello, Maggie Murray, and Ellie Hardman each recorded 2 goals Wednesday evening.

Curry gets back out on the field Tuesday as they host non-conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State at Katz Field. The game is set to start at 5 PM.
