BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College women's lacrosse team opened Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with a 20-1 loss at Endicott College on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium. The win pushes the Gulls to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the CCC while the Colonels fall to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Freshman Andria Torres (Milford, Conn.) netted the lone goal of the day for Curry, who were outshot 34-6. Freshman goalie Jessica Ginaitt (Warwick, R.I.) finished with 10 saves in the contest.
Endicott shut out the Colonels 11-0 in the first half and tacked on two to start the second of the game before Torres put Curry on the scoreboard with a free position man-up goal with 22:41 remaining in regulation. However, the home side potted seven more goals before the final whistle for the 20-1 victory.
Senior Jackie Healy (Northborough, Mass.) paced Endicott with eight points on four goals and four assists. Senior goalie Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) converted two saves in 20:25 of action. Sophomore Alexandra Rose (East Lyme, Conn.) turned away one shot in the final 39:25.
Curry welcomes in Worcester State University for a home contest at Walter M. Katz Field on Tuesday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m. Endicott travels to No. 8 nationally ranked Tufts University on Sunday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m.
