Women's Lacrosse Downs Non-Conference Foe Rivier, 19-7

(Nashua, N.H.) - The Rivier Women's Lacrosse team fell to Curry this evening by the score of 19-7. With the loss, the Raiders drop their season record to 4-11 (3-6 GNAC). As for Curry, they improve their season record to 6-9.

This was a difficult matchup for the Raiders. Rivier fell victim to many strong runs on offense by Curry. The game began with a Curry goal scored by Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) at the 28:44 mark. About a mintute later, Rivier was able to get on the board with an impressive man-up goal scored by Paxton Larocque (Tewksbury, Mass.) From there, Curry would end up pushing their lead to 6-1 with a 5-0 run. Despite suffering the early deficit, the Raiders rallied together and put together a run of their own.

Two goals by Paxton Larocque (Tewksbury, Mass.) one at the 16:26 mark, and again at the 13:35 mark, and a goal by Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, Mass.) cut the Curry lead to just two goals. Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) scored again for Curry, but was overshadowed by two Rivier goals. A goal by Paxton Larocque (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, Mass.) cut the Curry lead to 7-6. Unfortunately for the Raiders, Curry would end up rounding out the scoring with a 4-0 run at the very end of the half. Curry lead 11-6 heading into the break.

Curry continued to pour it on in the second half. Curry was able to score 8 consecutive goals to dominate the second half. Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was able to score the lone goal for the Raiders at the 3:58 mark, but it was not enough as Curry was able to bury Rivier 19-7 to capture their 6th win of the season.

Rivier had good performances turned in by Paxton Larocque (Tewksbury, Mass.) who was able to score an impressive 4 goals on only 4 shots. Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was able to score the final 3 Rivier goals on only six shots on the night. Jane Farell (Wilmington, Mass.), Jocelyn Park (Londonderry, N.H.), and Savannah Neuwirt (Newbury, N.H.) were each able to record 1 assist on the night.

Curry had good performances turned in by Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) who was able to record an outstanding 6 goals and 1 assist on the night. Alexis Cran (Branford, Conn.) was also able to add an additional 6 goals and 1 assist while winning 10 draw controls and causing 7 turnovers. Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) had an excellent night as well, as she was able to record 4 goals and 4 assists.

For their next contest, the Rivier Women's Lacrosse team will play their final game of the regular season, as they take on non-conference Regis (Mass.) on April 19th at 5:00pm. As for Curry, they will play at Salve Regina on April 18th at 12:00pm.
