Biddeford, ME - The Curry Women's Hockey team fell to the UNE Nor'easters on Friday by a final score of 3-1. The Colonels are now 3-1-1 on the season, and 1-1-1 in CNE play, while UNE is 2-3-0 and 1-2-0.
After a pretty even first 15 minutes, the home Nor'easters scored twice in the final four minutes to take a 2-0 lead. A scoreless second period saw the Nor'easters outshoot the Colonels 8-7. It would stay a 2-0 game until there was just over four minutes left in the game. The Colonels would cut the lead in half on an unassisted Bella Mardesich goal. The Colonels would push for a tying goal, and outshot their opponent 18-5 in the final period, but were unable to equalize. After the Colonels pulled their goalie with just over a minute left in the game, UNE put home an empty netter to win 3-1.
Backed by a controlling third period, the Colonels outshot the Nor'easters 35-21. They also won a majority of the faceoffs, winning 41 of 30 draws.
Coriann Hoag dropped to 3-1-1 in the net for Curry, making 18 saves on 20 shots.
