Harrisville, RI - Danielle Reid became the first player in Curry Women's Hockey history to record a hat trick on Saturday, scoring four goals in the Colonels' 7-1 win over Nichols. With the win, the Colonels are now 9-12-1 on the season, and 8-8-0 in CNE play. The Bison are now 7-14-2 and 4-10-2.

Reid opened the scoring 13 minutes into the first period, scoring off of assists from Ali Olorenshaw and Ava Doyle. After the Bison tied things up early in the second, Reid struck again for her second goal, this time assisted by Emily Bisbee and Megan Sawatzky. Just four minutes later Hannah Berkowitz made it 3-1. The next goal etched Reid's name in history as there was a long scrum in front of the net, and the puck squirted out to Reid, and she flipped it into the net over the goalie's shoulder. She immediately jumped into the air in celebration, as she became the first player in program history to record a hat trick, a goal of hers coming into the season. As she skated to the bench to celebrate with her teammates, she motioned with her hand taking an imaginary hat off of her head.

Despite the commanding lead, the Colonels did not take their foot off the pedal, as Berkowitz scored her second goal of the game nine minutes into the third. Reid would put the icing on the cake of her historic game with a fourth goal with a little under eight minutes remaining in the game, an empty net goal. The Colonels would add one more goal in the final minute of the game, as Paige Bourgoin scored.

Curry goalie Sarah Kerr continued her recent stretch of good play, making 27 saves in net.

While the Colonels only held a slight 33-27 edge in faceoffs, they dominated play, outshooting their opponent 45-28.

In addition to the hat trick, Reid was also playing in her 100th career game, as was Ali Olorenshaw and Emily Bisbee. They joined Kalie Gruhlke as the first players in program history to reach that mark. One more player could reach that mark, as Grayson Goolgasian has played in 98.

The seven goals was the third most in a game in program history, only trailing a pair of games in 2023 where the Colonels scored eight. The six-goal differential ties the program for largest win.
