Canton, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team fell to the Suffolk Rams on Friday, dropping a hard fought 4-3 game. With the loss the Colonels are now 4-4-0 on the season, and 3-4-0 in CNE play. The Rams are now 4-6-0 and 3-3-0.
The Colonels got out to a hot start, scoring less than a minute into the game. Kalie Gruhlke fired a wrist shot towards the net, and Tommi Nash deflected it into the net. It would remain 1-0 through the end of the period.
The second period featured a flurry of action, as the two teams combined for four goals. At the midway point of the period, Grayson Goolgasian found the back of the net off of passes from Hannah Berkowitz and Gruhlke. Less than three minute later Goolgasian struck again, giving the Colonels a 3-0 lead off of an outlet pass from Ava Doyle. But two goals late in the period brought the Rams back into it, and sent the game to the final period with the Colonels up 3-2. But it was not to be for the Colonels, as the Rams would tie things up half way through the period, and they would score the winning goal with a minute left in the game.
The Colonels outshot the Rams 27-24, and won the faceoff battle 28-27.
Sarah Kerr made 20 saves in the loss.
Up Next - The two teams will be back at it again tomorrow, this time at Suffolk. That game will start at 2:50pm.
