Women’s Ice Hockey Upsets #13 Endicott to Punch Ticket to CCC Championship

BEVERLY, Mass. - Curry College upset Endicott College in the Commonwealth Coast Conference women's ice hockey playoff semifinals, defeating the Gulls 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Prior to the contest, Endicott was ranked first in the CCC and #13 in DIII women's ice hockey with an overall record of 18-4-3. Curry's victory sends the team to its first CCC Championship in the program's three-year history.

After a scoreless first period, junior forward Hannah Berkowitz (Mattawan, Mich.) ripped a shot on goal that was saved by Endicott's goalie. Berkowitz scooped up the rebound and snuck the puck past the goaltender to score her 10th goal of the season to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead just 45 seconds into the second period.

Graduate student Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) played the entire game in net for Curry, making 50 saves on 50 shots in an outstanding effort to keep the relentless Endicott attack off the board and advance the Colonels to the finals.

The Colonels will face off in the CCC Championship against the winner of the semifinal game between Western New England University and the University of New England, taking place tonight, Saturday, February 24th, at 7 p.m.
