CANTON, Mass. - Curry College defeated UMass Boston 3-1 Friday night in non-conference women's ice hockey action at the Canton Ice House.

With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 4-6-2 while remaining 1-4-2 in conference play.

Junior Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) evened the score at 1-1 halfway through the second period, scoring on a breakaway after freshman Anna Kahl (Simsbury, Conn.) sent the puck past the UMass Boston defense, giving Olorenshaw a 1-on-1 with the goalie. Sophomore Ava Doyle (Lynnfield, Mass.) was also credited with an assist.

Junior Danielle Reid (Plainview, N.Y.) gave the Colonels a 2-1 lead with less than a minute remaining in the second period after skating down the left side of the rink, crossing in front of the net, and sneaking the puck past the goalie for her third goal of the season. Kahl and junior Kalie Gruhlke (Fall Creek, Wis.) were credited with assists.

Reid did it again early in the third quarter, skating past Beacon defenders on a fast break to score her second goal of the game and give the Colonels a 3-1 lead. Doyle and freshman Sophia Robles (Norton, Mass.) were credited with assists on the play.

Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making 23 saves in the win.

Curry returns to action on Tuesday, January 9th, to host Worcester State in a non-conference matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
