CANTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Western New England University Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Canton Ice House
With the loss, Curry falls to 8-13-2 overall on the season and 5-9-2 in the CCC.
Western New England opened the scoring early in the first period on a goal from Allison Walker. The unassisted tally came at 5:45 of the first period.
The score held until late in the second, when the Golden Bears extended their lead to 2-0 on a marker from Maddie Pope, with assists credited to Maggie Holt and Alexa Paoli.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final frame, as Golden Bear netminder Rieley Jessie-Gerelli held on for the 31-save shutout.
For the Colonels, senior goaltender Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) made 31 saves in the losing effort.
Next up for the Colonels, they will return to action on Friday when they host Suffolk University. Puck drop from the Canton Ice House is slated for 7 p.m.
