AMHERST, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team was defeated 2-0 by Amherst College Saturday evening in non-conference action at Orr Rink.
With the defeat, Curry heads into the winter break with an overall record of 4-6-2.
The story of the evening was Curry netminder Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario). The senior made 66 saves on 68 Mammoth shots to easily post a season-high.
The Mammoths netted their only two goals in the second period, but Archambeault stopped all 48 shots she faced in the first and third periods combined.
The Colonels were held to seven shots on the evening, with three coming on a power play early in the second period. Sophomore Hannah Berkowitz (Mattawan, Mich.) led Curry with a pair of shots on the evening.
Curry will now be off for over a month before returning to action to play a home-and-home against Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Nichols Colllege, starting on Friday, January 13 at the Canton Ice House. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
