Women's Ice Hockey Skates to Second Straight Tie with Western New England

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - For the second time in three nights, the Curry College women's ice hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with Western New England on Sunday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Olympia Ice Center.

With the tie, Curry moves to 3-2-2 overall on the season and 1-1-2 in CCC action.

Curry's only goal came off the stick off sophomore Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) on the power play midway through the second period. After freshman Margot Oxman (Lower Merion, Pa.) won a faceoff back to the point, a wrist shot from Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) was knocked down in the slot, but Goolgasian jumped on the loose puck in the slot and backhanded it through the five-hole to give Curry a 1-0 lead.

Western New England evened the score on a power play goal of their own late in the second, a score that would hold up right through the final horn.

The story of the evening was Curry senior netminder Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario), who was credited with the tie after stopping an astounding 52 of 53 shots she faced. Of her 52 saves, eight came in overtime as the Colonels killed off a penalty in the extra session.

Next up for the Colonels, they will host Worcester State University at the Canton Ice House on Tuesday evening for a non-conference showdown. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m.
