
CANTON, Mass. - Curry College Women's Ice Hockey tied Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Western New England 1-1 Friday evening at the Canton Ice House.
With the tie, Curry moves forward with an overall record of 3-2-1 and 1-1-1 in the CCC.
The conference contest did not see a score until 17:51 as Curry sophomore forward Danielle Stein (Plainview, N.Y.) netted a power-play goal, burying a shot following a rebound off the pads of WNE's Rieley Jessie-Gerelli to put the Colonels in front 1-0 heading into the first intermission. Curry's Tommi Nash (Point Pleasant, N.Y.) and Seneca Urban (Superior, Colo.) were credited with the assists on the opening goal.
A scoreless second period sent the two conference sides into the second intermission with the Colonels still leading 1-0. The Colonels marked just two shots in the second period compared to Western New England's 16.
With 7:55 remaining in the final period of regulation, Western New England's Maddie Pope put the Golden Bears on the board, tying the conference bout at one goal a piece. The third period would expire without an additional goal by either side, sending the matchup to a four-on-four overtime period.
The sole overtime period did not see a score by either conference side, resulting in a 1-1 tie at the Canton Ice House Friday evening.
Curry's sophomore netminder Anna Langton (Zimmerman, Minn.) turned aside 31 of the 32 shots she faced in the Commonwealth Coast Conference tie at home.
Next up for the Colonels, they continue CCC action on Sunday evening as they travel to face the WNE Golden Bears in Springfield, Mass. at 6 PM.
