NASHUA, N.H. - Sophomore Danielle Stein (Plainview, N.Y. ) scored 2:21 into overtime as the Curry College women's ice hockey team opened the 2022-23 season with a 1-0 victory over Rivier University Friday evening at Conway Arena.
With the win, Curry opens its season with a record of 1-0-0.
Stein stole a puck from a Raider defender on the half boards before walking it to the front, deking to the backhand, and sliding it past the netminder for the opening night win.
The Colonels dominated regulation play, but couldn't solve Rivier goaltender Rachel Hinkley until Stein's game-winner. In regulation, Curry outshot the Raiders 33-14.
In her first contest in a Curry uniform, senior goaltender Soleil Archambeault (London, Ontario) stopped all 15 shots she faced for the shutout.
Next up for Curry, they will play their home opener next Friday night with a non-conference contest against Plymouth State University. Puck drop from the Canton Ice House is slated for 7 p.m.
