Colonels Stunned by Suffolk University in CCC Action

BOSTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's ice hockey team was defeated by CCC opponent Suffolk University Saturday evening on the road. Final score: 10-2 in favor of the Rams.

The first period was all the Rams, putting three goals on the board gave them early control in the contest. Julia Franklin, Maddy Burton, and Sofia Scilipoti all contributed to the first period shut out. 

Suffolk again opened up scoring in the second period, finding the back of the net shorthanded was Rams forward Jesse Kennedy just under six minutes into the second 20.

The Colonels got on the board with a shorthand goal by Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Sask.) assisted by defenseman Sammy Lassman (Parkland, Fla.). Colonels now trail 4-1 with just over ten minutes left in the period. Curry forward Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) netted a shot just three minutes later, assisted by Paige Rodriguez (Eau Claire, Wis.) closing in on the Suffolk lead. Suffolk would then net another power-play goal with under five left in the period; the goal scored by Emily Bozzi. Bella Kaczorowski would further the Suffolk lead a minute later, sending the teams into the intermission with the score: 6-2 Suffolk.

Three more Rams score within the first ten minutes of the third period. Goals by Shana Cote, Maddy Burton, and Emily Bozzi.

Curry's Kalie Gruhlke (Chippewa Falls, Wis.) assisted by Ainsley Wescott (Saco, Maine) tallies another for the Colonels, softening the deficit. Now trailing: 9-3. The contest was closed out with another goal by Maddy Burton of Suffolk, totaling the contest at 10-3. 

Curry's Anna Langton (Zimmerman, Minn.) recorded 20 saves with 6 goals against as Curry's second goaltender Vivi Helquist recorded 9 saves with 4 goals against in the loss.

The Colonels return to the rink Friday as they host Nichols at the Canton Ice House at 7 PM for some more CCC action.
