SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Curry Collge was defeated 71-66 by Western New England University in a Conference of New England women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
With the loss, the Colonels' overall record falls to 5-10, and their conference record drops to 2-6.
After a slow first quarter, Lauren Dunn and Kasey Reeves combined for 10 of Curry's second-quarter points to pull the Colonels back into the contest and set up a third quarter that saw Curry outscore the Golden Bears by a margin of 26-14.
All five of Curry's starters scored in the third, with Lauren Morse going a perfect 3-for-3 from the field including two threes to lead Curry with nine points in the quarter. Unfortunately for the visitors, WNE's large first-quarter lead proved too large to overcome.
Four of Curry's starters finished with double-digit scoring numbers, led by Reeves with a season-best 21 points, including a pair of threes, four rebounds, and three assists. Morse finished with 15 whale Sophie Hilbrunner added 12 points, six assists, two steals, and two blocks. Dunn finished with 10 points and two blocks.
Curry College returns on Wednesday, January 22nd, to host Gordon in a CNE matchup beginning at 5:30 p.m.
