Women's Basketball Bested by Bison

DUDLEY, Mass. - Curry College was defeated by Nichols College 103-90 Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball game at Nichols Athletic Center.

With the loss, the Colonels drop to an overall record of 4-2 and start off conference play with a 0-1 record.

The Colonels got off to a hot start, putting up 29 points in the first quarter, led by freshman Sophie Hilbrunner (Waltham, Mass.), whose 11 points included one three-pointer on 5-for-7 shooting from the field.

The Bison narrowed the Colonels' lead to just two points by the end of the second quarter and kept the pressure on in the third, outscoring Curry in both periods to tie the game at 72-72 heading into the final quarter.

Hilbrunner led the Colonels with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Olivia Gourdine (Barnstable, Mass.) had a big game coming off the bench, finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds while Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) had 14 points and seven assists.

Curry College returns to action on Tuesday, December 5th, hosting Roger Williams in a conference matchup beginning at 5:30 p.m.
