Colonels Fall to Fighting Scots

WENHAM, Mass. - Curry College Women's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon College by a final score of 87-58 on the road Wednesday evening.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to 6-14 overall this season and 2-11 in the CCC.
The opening quarter in Wenham, Mass. saw the hosting Fighting Scots take charge, outscoring the visiting Colonels 28-14 through the first 10 minutes.
Curry's Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) knocked down a three at the start of the second quarter to begin the scoring for the Colonels. Successful shots from the field by Kaitlynn Smith, Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.), and Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) brought the Colonels within 12 points of the Fighting Scots with four minutes left in the half. Gordon pushed their lead to 18 through the second quarter, heading into halftime leading 48-30.
Curry kept pace with the hosts in the third quarter as Kathryn Dunn and Lauren Dunn combined for 16 of the Colonels' 19. However, Gordon College would prevent the Colonels from catching their lead through the duration of the second half, defeating the Curry by a final score of 87-58.
Curry notched 30.6% shooting from the field while Gordon College tallied 55.7% in the conference matchup.
The Colonels were led by Kathryn Dunn (21 points, 4 rebounds), Lauren Dunn (16 points), and Kaitlynn Smith (9 points).
The Colonels return to the court Saturday as they host CCC opponent Western New England in Katz Gymnasium at 12 PM.
