WBB Eliminated From Playoff Contention After 66-61 Loss to Roger Williams
MILTON, Mass. – Visiting Roger Williams hung on to defeat Curry College, 66-61, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) women’s basketball action Wednesday night in Milton. With the loss, the Colonels (9-15, 4-8 TCCC) were eliminated from TCCC playoff contention. The Hawks (9-15, 5-7 TCCC) kept their post-season hopes alive.

The two teams traded leads throughout a tight first half. Curry led early on but the Hawks took the lead with 6:13 remaining in the first half after freshman forward Elizabeth Kilzi (Waverly, PA) sank a jump shot that put her team on top, 19-17. Roger Williams maintained the lead for the remainder of the opening frame and took a 32-27 edge into the break.

The Colonels regained the lead early in the second half after freshman forward Hailey Rafferty (Worcester, MA) hit a three-pointer at 18:27, giving the hosts a 33-32 advantage. The Hawks quickly took back the lead after Kilzi hit a jumper with 15:31 left in the game, making the score 36-35 Roger Williams. Seven minutes later, the Hawks took their biggest lead of the game (58-46) after freshman forward Alexandria Lanieri (Port Jefferson, NY) connected for two.

Roger Williams was led by Lanieri and her game-high 20 points. Sophomore forward Ryan Weekes (Worcester, MA) added 18, while Kilzi contributed 17. Lanieri posted a double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Rafferty posted a double-double for the Colonels with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Julia Scrubb (Stowe, VT) shared team-high scoring honors with 16 points of her own.

Both teams close out the regular season this Saturday at 1 p.m. Curry hosts Endicott while Roger Williams travels to Eastern Nazarene.
