Softball Splits DH Against Tough Nichols Team

Dudley, MA - The Curry Softball team split their road doubleheader at Nichols on Tuesday, dropping the first game 6-0, before winning game two. The Colonels are now 11-13 on the season, and 4-6 in CNE play. The Bison are now 20-6 and 8-2.
Game One
After two scoreless innings, the Bison would score five in the third, and tacked on one more in the fifth. The Colonels could never get anything going, having just two baserunners the whole game. A Renee Gonneville double to lead off the game in the first, and a Natalia O'Kleasky single to lead off the fourth.
Jillian Rogers dropped to 6-3 on the season pitching, allowing five runs on four hits in two innings.
Game Two
The Bison got out to an early lead in game two as well, hitting a homer in the first to go up 1-0. But the Colonels would bounce back, scoring two runs in the third on a Morgan Barmash double. The Bison would tie things up in the third. The Colonels would again strike for two in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring the four total runs off of errors.
Caitlyn Wood was the starting pitcher for the Colonels, making her 100th career appearance for Curry. She is just the second player in program history to make 100 pitching appearances, joining Kim Sturgis '07. Sturgis made 114 appearances from 2004 to 2007. Wood would pitch the first three innings, limiting the Bison to just the two runs. Rogers then bounced back from her rocky outing in the first game, and shut the Bison down. She would pitch four no-hit innings, striking out four to pick up the win.
Up Next - The Colonels are right back at it on Wednesday, as they travel to Babson to take on Suffolk.
